This policy sets out how Rivet may and may not be used. It forms part of our Terms of Service.
1. Permitted use
Use Rivet to plan your own personal or small-scale DIY builds — furniture, storage, garden structures, shelving and similar projects — and to generate cut lists, materials lists, diagrams and walkthroughs for those builds.
2. Safety boundaries (must read)
- Do not rely on Rivet for structural, load-bearing, foundation or retaining work. These require a qualified professional and building-control approval.
- Do not use Rivet as a substitute for a licensed electrician, gas-safe engineer, plumber or structural engineer.
- Always comply with your local building regulations, permits and safety standards.
- Always verify generated sizes, loads and quantities against your own measurements and material ratings before cutting or building.
- Use tools and materials strictly per the manufacturer instructions and applicable safety standards.
3. Prohibited use
- Generating plans for anything illegal, dangerous by design, or intended to harm people or property.
- Presenting Rivet outputs as certified engineering, structural, electrical or building-control approvals.
- Uploading content you do not have the right to use, or that infringes others’ rights.
- Uploading third-party brand logos, protected designs or other intellectual property you do not own.
- Attempting to reverse engineer, scrape, overload or disrupt the service, or reselling it.
- Using the service to build regulated structures for others as an unlicensed contractor.
4. Minors
The service may not be used by anyone under 13. Users aged 13–17 must have parental or guardian consent, and any build involving power tools or hazardous work requires adult supervision.
